Three STSMs in the Spring 2012

Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) give an opportunity for the experts in the Action to, for example, exchange ideas, conduct field work for comparative analysis, write joint papers and plan further co-operation. This year we have had three STSMs.

Prof. Svetlana Hristova from South-West University, Bulgaria, visited the Centre of Social Sciences, University of Coimbra, Portugal to extend the discussion on cultural indicators in a comparative context including North American, Australian, and European systems of observation and measurement.

Dr. Michiel de Krom from the Institute of Agriculture and Fisheries, Belgium, spent two months at the University of Jyväskylä‘s Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy. During his visit he worked on empirical material on multifunctional agriculture aiming for deeper theoretical and analytical understanding of culture in sustainable agri-environmental governance.

Dr. Elena Battaglini, University of Rome, Italy, conducted field work in Belgard, hosted by the University of Arts Belgrad. During her visit she analysed placed-based sustainable development paths in Serbia in order to identify and assess effective supportive policies in the European territorial areas affected by rural marginalization
